    Hydrotherapy Rescue Award


    This course offers theoretical and practical skills for those working as a physiotherapist in an aquatic environment. This course will enhance knowledge and skills to develop the awareness of specific rescue equipment, level of judgement, technique and physical ability required to safely carry out water rescues in a hydrotherapy venue.

    A Statement of Attainment from Royal Life Saving will be issued upon successful completion in the following units:

    • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

    • SISCAQU002 Perform Basic Water Rescues

    Pool Plant Operations

    The Pool Plant Operations course provides candidates with the knowledge and skills relevant to the operation of plant and associated equipment of a commercial aquatic centre and the monitoring and maintenance of water quality.

    A Statement of Attainment from Royal Life Saving will be issued upon successful completion in the following units:

    • BSBRSK401 Identify risk and apply risk management processes

    • SISCAQU001 Test pool water quality

    • SISCAQU003 Maintain aquatic facility plant and equipment

    • SISCAQU004 Develop and implement pool water maintenance procedures

    • SISCAQU005 Develop and implement aquatic facility maintenance procedures

    Grey Medallion

    The Grey Medallion is a water safety and lifesaving skills program aimed at older adults.
    The program endeavours to teach participants a range of personal survival techniques, provide them with skills to deal with an emergency situation and to develop confidence and competence to enjoy aquatic exercise and other water-based activities safely.

    This is a non-Competency Training course. The Grey Medallion has four main components:

    • Water Safety Knowledge

    • Resuscitation and Emergency Care

    • Aquatic Exercise

    • Personal Survival and Lifesaving Skills

    This course is designed for Queensland residents. If you live in another state, you can do this course, however you may wish to consider doing it through the Royal Life Saving branch in your state.

    As you have done a course with us, we should have your USI on file. However we will contact you if we need to know your USI as we may not be able to issue your certificates until we can verify your USI.

    You will need to apply for a USI, this link (to the Australian Government website) may assist you. You can do this after you register for the course, however we may not be able to issue your certificates until we can verify your USI.
